MEDIA
I got some exposure in the media. Journalists trying to communicate what you do to a wider audience. I once spent two hours explaining what a surface is to a journalist. I got the weirdest interviews about my subdivision Oscars. What is typical is that you spend hours blabbering about your work and then get quoted only once in the article. I also had to take a "media awareness" training course once PR got involved. It is like going to therapy. Fun. I had some cool coverage like the 2007 Wired article and the 2019 University of Toronto article. Also got into the local papers here in Canada. You get strangers on the street asking you: "are you the guy who got that Oscar?" But because I am 6 foot 8 I get strangers asking me weird questions all the time.
